Evaluation

1. What do you feel is the most important area of learning that you have taken from this assignment? Look at all the production stages and ask your self which areas of this assignment have given you a new way of thinking or approaching you future projects. (50 Words)

I feel that the most important area of learning from the assignment is the research into the conventional horror trailer. Before the project, I didnt understand the structure of such a genre and I didnt think it would make a bean of difference how I planned out the horror trailer, however after watching horror trailers on the internet, I understood the details and aspects of how a horror trailer is structured in regards to camera positioning and the sequence of events.

2. From your finished project what parts are you most happy with? With the same level of consideration what areas do you feel you need to improve on? (50 Words)

I am delighted with the camerawork techniques that were used for our project, with the zooming in, zooming out, and swiveling of the rotary camera tripod. I believe this added a realistic, shocking, and overall vibrant edge to the trailer unlike no other before. However the paperwork may have let the group down at the beginning, as we decided to whip up the most imaginative story ideas first as opposed to putting our mind to work for some head-to-keyboard action on Risk assesments and whatnot.

3. How well do you think you and your group worked in achieving all the goals that were set by the assignment brief? (50 Words)

As a group, I would define our worksmanship as mediocre but definaly not inferior or stupendous. I do admit we started off somewhat at a snails pace, but we quickly achieved so much that we catched up, or in some cases surpassed several other groups for the assginment breifs. I found myself doing alot of the paperwork in the group because I opted not to act in anyone elses films, while the other group members did.

4. What would you change or do differently in the next production? (50 Words)

For a start, I find myself easly distracted alot of the time. I admit it, and several staff members have told me the same, and I am trying to think of ways to overcome this obstacle. One such method I could use is working with someone different in the class, perhaps someone I am not entirely associated with, or someone I dont have much in common with. Another thing I could do is to not take such a negative attitude to paperwork and risk assesment forms. I understand they have to be done, so I can understand these requirements should I start a career in the Media industry.

5. How does your trailer fit with the look and style of a real example that you looked at in research, think about how your trailer looks and how it is editied (50 Words)

My trailer follows the large conventions of a horror trailer, with chase scenes, screams, thrills, spills and other comparable elements one would expect. Like alot of the trailers I looked at, there is an absence of 'colourful' aspects that portray life as merryful. As a group we also tried to add a boastful aspect to the trailer, which is particulary proninent in the 'silver screen', which would contain one-liners such as 'THE GREAT HORROR THE SCREEN HAS EVER KNOWN!'. Using this research, we believe we have made a rather convincing horror trailer.

Horror Trailer

Over the past couple days Joe, Amanda and I have been filming intensly throughout our Horror trailer. We have abandoned our old script in favour of a more serious and logical one.

We also brainstormed and managed to borrow student Charlotte Stanhope in order to achieve more diversity in our shooting schedule, being a victim of our killers 'murder spree'.

Inconclusion we have been progressing marvellously and our group shall stride to achieve what we can in the incubent horror trailer project.

Today we are hoping to get the paperwork done and out of the way to put it in line with our new script.

Brokeback Exercise

My piece was very different compared to the actual movie, how ever the actual dialogue scenes especally the "hut" scene remain intact for most of the time.

I actually found that the dialogue was the hardest scene particulary the bar scene.

Seeing Storyboard Exercise

In todays lesson we had to observe a clip of a film, invoving an Oil rig disaster. We had to print off two story boards and make our own storyboard out of the specific clip of the film.

We also had to not only draw the shots, but label them with essentials such as shot positions, angles, and other miscellus information.

I completed 8 frames of the storyboard and I just need to make some tweaks to the pictures.

Post Production

The post production went very well for me, it was a time to reflect on the of the things I had done for the half of the term. Individually, I helped work on the video editing, adding music and general advice for the production.

If I was to improve on an area of post production, it would be to concentrate more on the editing in general, making more snippets to make the movie more complete.

If I was to change the film, I would make it slightly more serious and less comedic, as I believe that it could have been more original. I also believe I could have added more effects to the production, visually. I also believe I could have tweaked it a bit more to make it more appealing to audiences.

As a group, I believed we worked productively and well, however the absence of Joe Dyson was abit tricky as it meant we could not redo several scenes and had 1 less person to help with the editing and post production process.

In conclusion, we had a few obstacles, we with a lot of hard work and determination we finished the video project successfully.

Evaluating my contribution to Production

-I acted and co-starred in our production
-I intensivly memorised relevant sections of our script
-We as a group discussed the locations of the shooting of the film
-We put up warning signs telling other people that we were filming in that area
-We took note of health and safety hazards

The production was the most thrilling part of the whole task, as it involved less paperwork and more physical acting. We had prepared for the production in full fashion, making sure of the hazards and challenges that lay ahead.

Safety first was the mainmotive, as we had to make sure they were no wet patches, obstructions or restrictions within the acting ground. Then we proceeded with the acting without any incident.

I did not do any work behind the camera except for some positioning and advise. I would consider myself as an assistant to the director when I was not acting.

Evaluating my contribution to, Planning and Preproduction

-We met up and discussed the script, out of college hours
-We discussed the props we need and bought them
-We brainstormed and discussed the storyboards
-We met up several times to confirm the pre production process
-We completed the documents one by one and make our way through the pre production stage.

Meeting up and discussing the project throughly contributed to the bulk of the sucsess in regards to the project. My efforts for the project were mainly concentrated in the script writing and filling out the logging sheet and to a lesser extent sorting out the storyboard.

As for the group, we worked equally togeher in regards to the treatment and risk assesments. The camera handling was in the responisibility of Richard, and Joe sorted out the location and props for our production.

The pre production for our group started off slow but with a lot of work and dertermination we finished within the time limit, ready for the start of the production and eventually post-production.

I filled out paper aswell for the production, which helped me prepare for the role of the storyboard, and the script aswell.

Yesterday, Me, Joe and Richard decided to get to work on our 2 min short. We analiysed the ideas and brainstormed the prospects off our project to be. We came up with the idea of a story about revenge, action and dark humour. The short spirals around a Janitor and his ugly profession which in conclusion turns on him ending him up in trouble.
